BoneLight in Complex Networks
Today's network is not so simple even for a small business or a branch office. Not only traditional switch and router, but also WAN file system optimizing system, firewall, VPN access gateway and proxy servers complicate the network environment. In a typical application diagram, a multi-tier system with many remote users, web servers, load balancers and many other security or network devices act their own role in the cloud. To well apply any application or software into such kind of networks, people must be prepared for a complicated settings or adaptive technology.
This is a challenge for BoneLight as well, because BoneLight is designed for communications in network. Therefore, BoneLight need to comply with the network configuration without relying on the software settings, because when you send a trace file to others, you may have made a lot of local settings in your software to see the trace file. But for people who receive your files, they cannot make a precise tuning to adapt to your network configurations. Moreover, others may be unwilling to change their own software settings just to read your files. So a better way is in urgent need for close cooperation rather than just keeping modifying software settings.
BoneLight provides an innovative way to support complex usage, such as to customize application information into filename. So, let’s say if there is a captured packet trace file which contains a custom application using http protocol over tcp port 5000. Instead of finding a setting to configure it, we just need to rename the file and include “[http=#5000]” in the filename. Then when you open the file with BoneLight preview or export it to an Excel sheet, the tcp 5000 traffic is already translate into HTTP traffic.
Well, we can directly send the file to others. And others can open it with BoneLight without altering any settings and he/she can see the same result as us.
Except for file settings, we can also easily export the traffic of desired protocol or host by drag-n-drop operations. Complicated traffic can be easily drilled down into simple one; you can improve your efficiency by handling packets not that much.

Converting Excel brings you better flexibility when dealing with complexity. Excel features like consolidate, what-if analysis and data validation now have further mining.
Good luck and get BoneLight today to move
on!
