BoneLight in Outlook/Exchange
Microsoft Exchange Server is a great groupware for enterprises to build a large global communication network. PacketBone will not miss this opportunity——BoneLight enhances Exchange Server to become a solid communication platform for IT professionals.
First of all, BoneLight™ equips Microsoft® Outlook with a Trace File Previewer. Trace files captured from Winpcap/Libpcap, Sniffer, Microsoft Monitor, WildPackets OmniPeek, Network Instruments and Endace can now be previewed in Microsoft Outlook just like previewing a PowerPoint or Word document.

The Protocol Tree shows us how much each application consumes the traffic. From top to bottom Treeview inform us the protocol type and implementation in very clear way.
The decode page allows us to read the packet content in a human understandable language. Without identifying binary, now each field of a binary is explained in the decode fields.
Also, files in an attachment can be viewed easily, which is the same when a trace file is in the private/public folder. Firstly, let us probe into the private folder.
With drag-n-drop operations, we can simply drag any trace to the folder of outlook. When we click the dropped file, the previewer instantly shows (after it is enabled) the content of the trace file. We can drop multiple files, and then, all packets’ information can be shown instantly just by few clicks. We can create a related Microsoft Excel or a text to brief the information of this trace file.
OK, let's share some files now, because it’s so easy to see the packet content.

Upload a trace file and an excel sheet which is generated by BoneLight for this file, right click the public folder and select properties in the context menu, then in the 'Permissions' page, we can set the number of people who can view the files in the folder and who have the right to write those files. All the user information can directly grab from Active Directory, so the permission control can be fully integrated into the current security system applied for the domain, for example, RSA tokens
.
Now people with permission can join and view the trace file and excel files in Outlook if they have installed BoneLight. Even if they have not yet installed BoneLight, they can still double click that file and read/write it with the preferred packet analyzer or related software.

Outlook 2007 can seamless integrate with SharePoint portal/service, so the trace files can be also put on the SharePoint services. Setting permission and publication is similar as Exchange public folder, so all trace file now can be secured with the groupware and if you make use of Excel export result of the trace file on the shared folders. The group people can work together and tracking the file uploaded. Even after a few months or years, all those trace file and review comments can be kept well and safe.
